Texas Laws Regarding Car Accidents
The law of Texas requires that all drivers have car insurance. According to the state law, Texas drivers need a minimum coverage of $30,000 per injured victim, up to at least $60,000 per accident. Texas drivers must also have coverage for property damage of at least $25,000.
Texas does not require insurance for uninsured and under insured drivers but it is better to include it in your policy to ensure that you are protected. There are a number of insurance coverage policies in Texas, the one that is legally required is liability coverage.
Liability coverage covers lost wages of serious injury and replacing a damaged vehicle.
Collision coverage covers damage to a new car that you still owe money to.
Comprehensive coverage covers the cost of repairing or replacing your car.
Un-insured/Under insured Motorist coverage will pay for bodily damage and property damage in an accident caused by a driver who did not have insurance.
Personal Injury Protection
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Insurance covers your medical bills and loss of income regardless of the driver at fault of the crash.
